Rapper and reality TV star Laycon has revealed that he felt disconnected from his inner self after winning the 2020 edition of Big Brother Naija.
The artist, whose real name is Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, shared the experience in a recent video posted on Instagram, where he spoke about a period when he could no longer clearly hear his own thoughts.
“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?” he asked while reflecting on the experience.
Laycon explained that he only began reconnecting with his inner voice in December 2021 after hosting his sold-out concert, The Icons Fest.
“After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice and the first time I heard that voice again was December 2021 after my sold-out concert, The Icons Fest,” he said.
According to him, when the inner voice returned, it confronted him with difficult questions about his life and happiness.
“Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this? Are you happy?” he recalled the voice asking.
The rapper said the questions pushed him to spend time alone, reflecting deeply on his life and personal choices.
“So, that’s what I did. From that conversation came a lot of necessary but uncomfortable truths and realisations about myself,” he added.
Laycon also encouraged people to embrace moments of silence and solitude, noting that self-reflection helps individuals take responsibility for their lives and gain clarity needed for personal growth.
