A member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Bello Muhammad Zaki, has announced his resignation from the party, saying he is moving to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a resignation letter addressed to the NNPP chairman of Unguwar Gabas Ward and dated January 1, 2026, Zaki said the decision followed wide consultations with his family, supporters and political associates.
He explained that his move to the ADC was part of what he described as his “major New Year resolution,” adding that he was joining “like-minded” politicians who share his vision.
“As from today, I resign from the New Nigeria People’s Party with immediate effect, to join the African Democratic Congress,” Zaki stated in the letter.
He also wished the NNPP leadership and members a prosperous New Year and enclosed his party membership card as confirmation of his exit.
While Zaki did not give further details about the factors behind his political shift, his defection adds to the growing movement of grassroots politicians realigning ahead of future political activities in the state.
