Nigerian musician, David Adeleke, well known as Davido, has congratulated South African female singer, Tyla Laura Seethal, fondly called Tyla, for winning the Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammy Awards ceremony.
Tyla’s song, ‘Water’, beat ‘Unavailable’ by Davido featuring Musa Keys; ‘Amapiano’ by Asake and Olamide; ‘City Boys’ by Burna Boy; and ‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr to win the category at the Grammy Awards held in Los Angeles, United States, on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
Davido, who lost out on all three nominations, in a post on his X handle in the early hours of Monday, February 5, congratulated Tyla for winning the award.

Tyla rose to international fame with the release of her 2023 single ‘Water’, which entered the top ten in 16 countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States.
‘Water’ was the first song by a South African soloist to enter the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 55 years.
Her self-titled debut album is scheduled for release on March 22, 2024.
Tyla has been nominated for a BRIT Award, a Soul Train Music Award, a MOBO Award, and two South African Music Awards.
