Bishop Odedeji: Christmas offers transformation from darkness to light

The Diocesan at the Archbishop Vinning Memorial Church Cathedral (AVMCC) in Ikeja, Lagos State, Rt. Revd. James Olusola Odedeji, has described Christmas as a special occasion that everyone in the world looks up to.

In his sermon at the church on Monday, December 25, 2023, Odedeji congratulated the congregation for witnessing another Christmas.

He said: “The birth of Christ has to do with unconditional love for mankind.

“By His birth, there’s no limitations, hence we’re more than conquerors.”

Bishop Odedeji further likened life without Christ to a life in crisis, “because through His birth, mankind has been given the link to the source of life”.

“The birth of Christ gave us the will to transform from darkness unto light,” he added.

The Diocesan further listed the benefits of the joy of Jesus’ birth to include the joy of salvation, the joy of His presence, the joy of dominion over the power of darkness, the joy of answered prayers, and the joy of better tomorrow.

The cleric also urged the congregation to embrace a life of prayers because if “there’s no prayer, there’s no God”.

The highlight of the service was the Christmas Thanksgiving during which the congregation danced to the altar and offered birthday gifts to Jesus Christ in appreciation.
