The Borno State Government has rolled out a postgraduate scholarship programme for indigent students studying science courses.
The beneficiaries must have gained admission to study for Masters of Doctorate degrees in Nigeria, Egypt, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and South Africa, or in India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Pakistan or the United Kingdom.
The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Scholarship Board, Bala Isa, made this known while speaking with newsmen in Maiduguri, the state capital, on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
Isa stated that the beneficiaries must be studying in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

He said: “The scholarship programme is in line with the 25-year development plan and 10-year strategic transformation initiative of the state government.
“This initiative is designed to bridge the existing human capacity gap in the state.
“Therefore, candidates with MSc, PhD admission in some selected universities in Africa, Asia and the United Kingdom are to apply through the Borno State scholarship board website.”
He added that the scholarship board’s website has been opened to receive applications between August 4 and October 30, 2023.
