Breaking: INEC declares Binani Adamawa Governor-elect

Senator Aisha Dahiru, popularly known as Binani, ha been declared winner of the Adamawa Governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Binani the Adamawa State Governor-Elect on Sunday morning in Yola.
Binani is Nigeria’s first elected female governor.
Results from 10 out of 20 local governments had been announced by the the Resident Electoral Commission (REC) before sudden postponement till 11am.
Governor Ahmad Fintiri of the PDP was leading with the results so far announced.
But before the scheduled time the REC, Hudu Yunus Ari, announced Binani as the winner.
Binani polled 409,909 votes against Fintiri’s 406,617.
