The Bayero University Kano (BUK) has announced that the solar plant of the university has collapsed leaving the institution in a blackout.
The university made this known in a bulletin issued by the Deputy Registrar in Charge of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba.
“This is to inform members of the University community that the solar plant has crashed last night.
“Pending when the situation will normalise, members of the University community may witness blackout of power supply for some days on the campus,” the bulletin said.
BUK is among the pioneer six universities in Nigeria that the Federal Government funded solar plant system to disengage them from the national grid.
The university management appealed to members of its community to bear with the situation, saying: “You are kindly requested to bear with the situation, as the management is making concerted effort to rectify the problem.”
