Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has become the first African artiste to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 Songs chart.
The feat was achieved with “Dai Dai,” his FIFA World Cup collaboration with Shakira, which topped both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts this week.
The song also continued its impressive run in the United States, climbing 12 places to a new peak of No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In another milestone for Nigerian music, singer Tems recorded her highest-ever position on the Billboard Hot 100 as her hit “What You Need” rose five spots to No. 39 after spending 15 weeks on the chart.
The track recently reached No. 1 on both the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart and the Mediabase Urban Radio Airplay chart, making Tems the first solo African artiste to achieve the feat on both radio charts.

The latest accomplishments underscore the growing global influence of Afrobeats, with Burna Boy and Tems continuing to break new ground for African music on the international stage.
