Grammy Award-winning Nigerian artiste Burna Boy will headline the grand finale of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Fan Zone concerts in Rabat, Morocco, bringing the curtain down on the tournament’s music and fan experience.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the performance in a post on X, announcing that Burna Boy will perform alongside British rapper Stormzy, Ghanaian star Stonebwoy and Moroccan singer Jaylann. CAF described the show as the high point of its AFCON Fan Zone concert series.
Tagged “The AFCON Last Dance,” the concert is scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2026, at the OLM Souissi Fan Zone in Rabat, with festivities beginning at 8 p.m. local time.
The 2025 AFCON, which kicked off on December 21, 2025, has consistently fused football with music. The opening ceremony in Rabat featured Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido, alongside French Montana and producer RedOne, in a performance titled Le Show, staged ahead of Morocco’s opening match against Comoros at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium. CAF described Davido as embodying the celebratory and confident spirit of African football and praised his role in taking African music to the global stage.
As the tournament nears its conclusion, attention has shifted to the final matches. Nigeria will face Egypt in the third-place playoff on Saturday, January 17, at the Mohammed V Stadium. Hosts Morocco advanced to the final after defeating Nigeria 4–2 on penalties in their semi-final encounter, which ended goalless after extra time. Despite a penalty save by goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, missed kicks by Samuel Chukwueze and Bruno Onyemaechi allowed Youssef En-Nesyri to secure Morocco’s victory.
Morocco will now take on Senegal in the final on Sunday, January 18, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, as the hosts aim to win their first AFCON title since 1976.
The AFCON finale concert further highlights the growing global influence of Nigerian and African music. In recent years, Wizkid became the first African artiste to perform at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and to headline the Glastonbury Festival, while Tiwa Savage performed at King Charles III’s coronation concert. Rema also showcased Afrobeats on a global stage with his performance at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in France.
With Burna Boy leading the final AFCON Fan Zone concert, African music once again takes centre stage alongside the continent’s biggest football spectacle.
