Voting at Polling Unit 001, Fegge, in Onitsha, Anambra State, during the 2025 gubernatorial election has been delayed due to a malfunctioning Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine.
As at 9:55 a.m., no voter accreditation had taken place, and no votes had been recorded.
Election officials were reported to be waiting for a replacement machine, our correspondent Eyitope Kuteyi observed.
Voting has, however, commenced at several other polling centres across the state.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 2,802,790 registered voters are expected to cast their votes across 5,718 polling units in Anambra’s 21 local government areas.
The election, spanning the state’s three senatorial districts, features 16 candidates, with Governor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, Paul Chukwuma of the YPP, George Moghalu of the Labour Party, and Jude Ezenwafor of the PDP among the prominent contenders.
