The Kaduna State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has lauded Governor Uba Sani as a responsive leader who has been fulfilling his campaign promises since assuming office.
The commendation came from CAN Chairman, Rev. Caleb Ma’aji, on Wednesday during a Ramadan Iftar hosted by the Governor at the Government House, where Christian leaders were also in attendance.
Rev. Ma’aji highlighted that last year, CAN had requested the restoration of government-sponsored Christian pilgrimages to Jerusalem, which had been suspended since 2015.
“This year, 49 pilgrims traveled to Jerusalem and have safely returned. One last person was delayed due to a name mix-up but will soon make the trip,” he said.
The CAN Chairman also praised the Governor for initiating major road projects, including PAN Drive-Television Garage-Sabon Tasha, Samrada-Romi-Karatudu Gonin Gora, and Nasarawa-UNTL-Zenith Bank Kakuri roads. “The roads are being constructed to the highest standards, with proper asphalt and drainage,” he added.
Rev. Ma’aji assured that Christians will continue to pray for Governor Uba Sani’s wisdom, divine guidance, and ability to lead Kaduna State to greater heights, noting that the Governor has already achieved significant milestones in his two and a half years in office.
Bishop Joseph Yari, former Chairman of the Kaduna State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, also commended the Governor for restoring the pilgrimage program, adding that the Kaduna State contingent prayed for continued peace in Nigeria and the state during their visit.
In response, Governor Uba Sani emphasized that reviving state sponsorship of the pilgrimage reflects his administration’s commitment to justice, equity, and fairness.
He pledged to restore Kaduna State to its status as a peaceful “home for all Nigerians,” reversing years of ethno-religious crises.
Highlighting the importance of the Iftar gathering, the Governor noted that it provides an opportunity to receive feedback on government policies and programmes.
This year’s event is particularly significant as both Muslims and Christians are observing fasting and Lent.
He urged religious leaders to support his administration and President Bola Tinubu to ensure the delivery of democratic dividends and sustainable development for the people.
