Cardiac arrest claims Nigerian woman on UK visit

The family of a Nigerian woman, Christiana Nwosu, who reportedly died of cardiac arrest while visiting the United Kingdom, has launched a fundraising campaign to repatriate her remains to Nigeria for burial.

The appeal, created on GoFundMe and signed by Chijioke Metuka on behalf of the Nwosu family, said Christiana died on July 19, 2026, leaving her children and relatives devastated by the sudden loss.

Describing the deceased as “a beacon of light, love and warmth,” the family said her passing had created an irreplaceable void and expressed a desire to lay her to rest in Nigeria alongside her extended family.

According to the appeal, repatriating her remains from the UK is expected to cost about £10,000, covering funeral director fees, specialist repatriation services, documentation, air freight, transportation and burial expenses in Nigeria.

The family appealed to members of the public for financial support, noting that every donation would help ease the burden of the unexpected costs.

They also encouraged those unable to contribute financially to share the fundraising campaign and keep the family in their thoughts and prayers.

As of the time of filing this report, the campaign had raised £7,941 toward its £10,000 target.

The fundraising effort comes months after another Nigerian family sought public support to repatriate the remains of Oluranti Akinyemi, who died in the UK shortly after arriving for her son’s graduation ceremony. Her family had launched a separate campaign to cover repatriation and funeral expenses.
