A 37-year-old carpenter, Temidayo Akinsanya, was on Monday arraigned before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly defrauding a client of ₦3.88 million meant for supplying doors.

Akinsanya, who resides on Kayode Ajayi Street, Ifelodun area, Apata, Ibadan, is facing a single count of fraud and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

According to the prosecuting counsel, ASP Sikiru Ibrahim, the offence was committed between June and August 2024, when Akinsanya allegedly collected ₦3,877,000 from Mr. Oladele Oladipupo for the production and supply of doors.

Ibrahim told the court that the defendant delivered substandard doors, which the client rejected, and failed to refund the money.

The offence, he said, contravenes Section 421 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate M. Mudashiru granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦1 million, with two sureties in like sum.

One surety must be a blood relative, while the other is required to present a three-year tax clearance.
