The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has called on the people of the Niger Delta to deepen their commitment to peace, unity and communal harmony as they celebrate Christmas and prepare for the New Year.
Otuaro made the call in a Christmas message issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Igoniko Oduma, in which he thanked traditional rulers, ex-agitators, youths, community leaders and other stakeholders for their continued cooperation with the PAP and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He described peace as the foundation for sustainable growth in the region, urging residents to continue to embrace dialogue and cooperation.
“Peace and unity remain the strongest foundations for sustainable development,” Otuaro said, adding that violence has no place in the region’s collective aspirations.
The PAP boss highlighted what he described as key milestones recorded by the Programme in 2025, including improved welfare for beneficiaries, better access to education and vocational training, and strengthened reintegration efforts aimed at empowering youths across the Niger Delta.
He credited the progress to the leadership of President Tinubu and the support of the Office of the National Security Adviser, which, he said, has provided strategic direction for the Programme.
Reflecting on the significance of Christmas, Otuaro said the season represents love, sacrifice and reconciliation — values he noted are consistent with the communal culture of the Niger Delta.
He urged beneficiaries and residents to celebrate responsibly and remain committed to building stronger, safer communities.
Looking ahead, Otuaro expressed optimism that the coming year would bring greater stability and opportunities to the region.
“With continued unity, peace and collaboration, the Niger Delta will record even greater progress,” he said, wishing the people a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
