The strength of any national movement lies not only in its vision but also in its ability to reach people, build relationships and inspire participation across different communities. In a country as diverse as Nigeria, a movement seeking national relevance must be prepared to go beyond familiar political centres, engage people where they are and create room for wider participation. This is the task the City Boy Movement has set for itself as its nationwide mobilisation gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The mobilisation is already underway. Across the South-East, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba states, among other parts of the country, the movement has taken its activities to communities, engaging people and strengthening its grassroots presence. These engagements reflect a deliberate effort to build a network that cuts across geographical, social and cultural boundaries.
Under the patronage of Seyi Tinubu, City Boy is consolidating its existing structures while expanding opportunities for more Nigerians, particularly young people, to become involved. The invitation is open. Young Nigerians interested in political participation, organisation, communication, and community engagement have an opportunity to bring their ideas, skills, and energy into the movement.
This is an important consideration at a time when youth participation in national affairs deserves greater attention. Nigeria’s young people are not short of ideas, talent or ambition. They are entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives, students and community leaders with a direct stake in the country’s future. Their involvement in organised political activities gives them a chance to contribute perspectives, build leadership experience, and join conversations about national direction.
City Boy offers a platform for such engagement. Its growing presence across states and at the grassroots creates opportunities for young people to participate in mobilisation, coordination, communication and other organisational activities. A handful of individuals cannot sustain a national movement; it requires people who are willing to take ownership of its activities and contribute consistently.
2027: CBM debunks electoral interference, says membership registration voluntary
The political objective is equally clear. City Boy is mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and the delivery of his electoral mandate. Its Patron, Seyi Tinubu, has expressed confidence in members’ commitment and determination, stressing that the movement is building on established structures and taking its assignment seriously.
His message that City Boy is not a movement of empty declarations but one backed by organisation, mobilisation and action captures the importance of the work already underway.
As the movement extends its reach across Nigeria, its invitation to young people remains open. There is room for new members, fresh ideas and meaningful contributions. Whether in cities or at the grassroots, young Nigerians who want to participate can find a place within its growing national network.
The message is simple: the mobilisation has started, the doors are open, and every willing young Nigerian has an opportunity to be part of the journey.
