The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), House of Bishop, has elected new bishops to fill one of its vacant Sees in Ekiti State and the newly created 14 dioceses which commenced after an eucharistic service.
The bishops were elected after the CoN’s Episcopal Synod at the Cathedral Church of Emmanuel in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
At the end of the Episcopal Synod, the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Most Rev. Dr. Henry Ndukuba, announced the elections of fifteen clergymen to fill the current vacant See of Irele/Ese-Odo and 14 of the newly created Sees.
It would be recalled that the standing committee approved the creation of 5 full-fledged dioceses and 10 missionary dioceses at the just concluded meeting.
The Primate noted that the election of the bishop of the Missionary Diocese of Eket is yet to be done due to the sudden demise of the Bishop of Uyo Diocese this week, where the missionary diocese is being carved out.
Archbishop Ndukuba also called on all faithful to pray and support these newly created dioceses and elected servants of God and their families as they go into their new places of assignment at a time like this, after all the due processes, training and consecration are concluded.

A statement issued on Friday by the CoN Communication Officer, Korede Akintunde, quoted Ndukuba as calling on the newly elected fathers in God to continually seek God’s face for direction and for the power of God in the new roles God has given to them.
The Primate added that the inauguration of new dioceses and enthronement of the Bishops-elect will be announced in the days ahead.
