A Paris court has awarded Kim Kardashian one euro in compensation over the 2016 armed robbery in which jewellery worth more than $6m was stolen from her.
The amount was reportedly the compensation requested by the American reality television star.
Kardashian was staying at the Hôtel de Pourtalès on October 2, 2016, when two members of a robbery gang disguised as police officers forced their way into her suite.
The attackers allegedly restrained her with zip ties and tape before escaping with jewellery, including a diamond ring she had worn to a Givenchy fashion show.
The court’s decision followed the conviction last year of eight people over their roles in the robbery. The suspects, several of whom were in their 60s and 70s, became known in France as “les papys braqueurs,” or “the grandpa robbers.”
They faced charges including armed robbery, kidnapping and gang association. However, none returned to prison because they had already spent time in pretrial detention, and none appealed the verdict.
Kardashian and her stylist, Simone Harouche, who was present during the incident, welcomed the court’s decision in a joint statement.
“The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today’s decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition,” they said.
They thanked the French justice system and those who supported them throughout the legal process, adding that they hoped to move forward and continue healing.
The court also awarded Harouche one euro in compensation.
A former hotel receptionist who was also affected by the robbery received €109,516, including damages and interest. His lawyer, Mohand Ouidja, said the decision was a victory. The receptionist had sought €550,000.
Following the convictions, Kardashian described the robbery as “the most terrifying experience of my life” and said it had left a lasting impact on her and her family.
She also expressed gratitude to French authorities for pursuing the case, saying she believed in accountability, justice and healing.
