A Magistrate Court sitting in the Kuje area of Abuja has granted bail to human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, alongside several protesters arrested during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest in the Federal Capital Territory.
The court also granted bail to Aloy Ejimakor, counsel for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu; his brother, Emmanuel Kanu; and 11 others.
Mgistrate Abubakar Umar granted the defendants bail on Friday, October 24, 2025, following their arraignment on charges bordering on unlawful assembly and disturbance of public peace.
Police: Why we arrested Sowore
The magistrate granted Sowore and other defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, subject to the condition that they present a verified National Identification Number (NIN).
He also directed the defendants to present their three-year tax clearance certificates and submit their passports as part of the bail conditions.
Sowore, the publisher of Sahara Reporters, was arrested by police operatives after leaving the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.
