The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of assets worth over N335 million belonging to Abba Babagana Dalori and his affiliated companies to the Federal Government.
Justice Emeka Nwite granted the order following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which had earlier secured an interim forfeiture order on August 13, 2024.
The EFCC’s motion, filed under Section 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006, was supported by affidavits showing compliance with all legal requirements, including publication of the interim order in The Punch newspaper on September 4, 2024.
According to the EFCC, no individuals or entities came forward to claim ownership of the assets, which are believed to be proceeds of unlawful activities.
The forfeited assets include a duplex in Maiduguri; several residential apartments in Abuja and Maiduguri; plots of land in Abuja, Maiduguri, Nasarawa, and Niger States; a 50-hectare farmland in Gaube and another 4.8-hectare land near Dakwa Town in Tafa LGA, Niger State; a four-bedroom terrace duplex in Guzape, Abuja; and 10 hectares of land earmarked for a proposed filling station on Baga-Maimalari Barrack Road in Maiduguri.
Also forfeited are Galaxy Hospital in Maiduguri; a private residence in Karu LGA, Nasarawa State; and five petroleum filling stations located in Chabbal Village (Borno), along Kaduna-Zaria Expressway (Kaduna), Mogaramti (Borno), Chabal Village in Konduga LGA (Borno), and Sir Kashim Ibrahim Road (Maiduguri).
In addition to the physical assets, several bank accounts were forfeited, including: Galaxy Transportation and Communication Service Ltd with a balance of N281,455,454, Galaxy Computing and Electronics Service Ltd with N6,977,195, Galaxy Energy Int’l Concept Ltd with N1,240,588, and Galaxy Transportation & Construction Service with N43,705,469.55.
Other listed accounts, including those belonging to Galaxy Superstores & Pharmacy, Galaxy Intercontinental Miners Concept Ltd, Galaxy Transport & Construct Service, Galaxy Transportation & Construction, and Abba Babagana Dalori himself, had zero balances.
Justice Nwite ruled that the application had merit and that granting the final forfeiture was in the interest of justice, noting that no party had come forward to challenge the motion.
