The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and its Registrar-General, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji (SAN), to maintain the status quo in a case challenging the alleged withdrawal of the Certificate of Incorporation of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN).
Justice Binta Nyako, who presided over the matter, also directed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development and the Minister of Youth Development—both named as defendants—to maintain the status quo pending the hearing of a motion for an interlocutory injunction filed by the NYCN.
The Incorporated Trustees of NYCN, led by its President, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, and the Secretary of its Board of Trustees, approached the court seeking an order restraining the CAC and its Registrar-General from withdrawing or invalidating the council’s registration certificate.
They also asked the court to stop the Ministry of Youth Development and the Minister from recognizing or acting on the purported withdrawal of the NYCN’s certificate by the CAC.
During the hearing, counsel to the NYCN, Mustapha Shaba Ibrahim (SAN), and Sheriff Aduke, representing Ambassador Sukubo, presented an ex parte application seeking urgent relief.
Justice Nyako, however, ruled that the matter should be heard on notice and instructed all parties to maintain the existing state of affairs until the case is fully heard.
The judge adjourned the matter to October 28, 2025, for the hearing of the motion on notice.
