Court stops Ganduje from taking N10bn loan

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has stopped the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, from taking N10 billion loan.

Kano First Forum instituted a legal action against Governor Ganduje’s proposed N10 billion loan for Kano security infrastructure development.

The Star had earlier reported that Kano State House of Assembly approved the request of N10 billion forwarded by Governor Ganduje.

The opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) condemned the approval, cautioning financial institutions against giving out loan to Governor Ganduje-led administration.

“That the first respondent/defendant is hereby restrained in the interim from borrowing the sum of 10, 000 000 000 (10 billion naira) from 5th defendant,” the court order issued by Justice A. M. Liman read in part.

The suit has Kano State Governor joined in the suit alongside Kano State House Assembly, Commissioner of Justice, Ministry of Finance, Access Bank, Debt Management Service, and Fiscal Responsibility Commission.
