Cristiano Ronaldo leaves Portugal camp, promises to reveal reasons

Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his departure from the Portugal national team camp, saying he will disclose the reasons behind his decision at a later date.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner made the announcement in a statement following a press conference by Portugal head coach and a conversation with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation.

“After the National Team coach’s press conference, and following a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the National Team training camp,” Ronaldo said.

He said he would explain the circumstances surrounding his departure to the Portuguese public “in due time”.

“To all Portuguese people, I will tell the truth about the reasons that led to my departure from the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself,” he added.

Ronaldo, who has been a key figure for Portugal for nearly two decades, wished the team and his teammates well following his departure.

“Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and to all my teammates,” he said.
