Dangote Industries Limited has entered into a partnership with the Niger State Government aimed at driving industrialisation, expanding rice production and creating employment opportunities in the state.
The company disclosed this in a statement issued by its Group Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina.
According to the statement, the collaboration covers several economic initiatives, including agriculture, manufacturing and investment promotion.
As part of the arrangement, Dangote Rice Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Niger State Government for the supply of paddy rice over a period of 10 years.
Under the agreement, the company committed to purchasing one million metric tonnes of paddy rice from Niger Foods to support food sufficiency across the country.
The statement quoted the Regional Director and Senior Adviser to the President and Chief Executive of the Dangote Group, Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, as saying that construction work on the company’s rice mill in the state was advancing steadily.
She explained that the 32-metric-tonnes-per-hour rice mill, situated on a 30-hectare site in Wushishi, was on track for completion.
According to her, the project is expected to strengthen food security efforts, improve local rice production and generate employment opportunities for residents.
Wali-Abdurrahman also stated that several subsidiaries of the Dangote Group were participating in the 22nd Niger Trade Fair.
The participating companies include Dangote Cement Plc, NASCON Allied Industries Plc, Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc and Dangote Fertiliser Limited.
She added that a dedicated desk had also been created at the trade fair to respond to inquiries about the Dangote Refinery, the company’s Vision 2030 agenda and other business operations.
The Dangote Group is the major sponsor of the 2026 Niger National Trade Fair scheduled to begin on May 14 with the theme, “Public Private Partnership as the Panacea for Nigeria Economic Growth and Stability.”
The Director-General of the Niger Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Adamu Salihu, said the fair is expected to attract about 300 exhibitors, including investors, policymakers and business leaders from different parts of the country.
Salihu praised Dangote Group for its contribution to industrial growth in Nigeria and Africa, noting that the company’s consistent participation had continued to strengthen the annual trade fair.
He urged indigenous businesses to invest more in Nigeria’s economy, stressing that local investment remained critical to job creation and sustainable economic growth.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Niger Foods, Sammy Adigun, disclosed that the partnership would require the development of 25,000 hectares of commercial rice farms in the state.
He added that the initiative, which will run for 10 years, is expected to create about 50,000 direct jobs.
