The President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate and prosecute the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, for alleged corruption and abuse of office.
Dangote, in the petition dated December 16, 2025, and filed through his lawyer, Ogwu Onoja (SAN), accused the NMDPRA boss of “living far beyond his means” and misappropriating millions of dollars in public funds.
He said Ahmed spent over $7 million of public funds on his four children’s education in Switzerland, paying six years’ tuition upfront without a lawful source of income.
Dangote accused the NMDPRA boss of enriching himself illegally and urged the ICPC to verify the allegations independently.

Dangote said if proven, Ahmed’s actions violate the Code of Conduct for Public Officers and carry a prison term of five years without a fine.
The billionaire businessman stressed that prompt ICPC action would uphold justice and protect public trust in the administration.
The petition followed a Lagos press conference where Dangote criticised regulatory failures and alleged corruption in the downstream petroleum sector.
It would be recalled that in June 2025, a coalition of protesters similarly accused the NMDPRA boss of corruption, storming the offices of the Attorney-General of the Federation, the Code of Conduct Bureau, and the ICPC to demand his resignation.
The NMDPRA, however, dismissed all allegations, describing them as “an orchestrated smear campaign” based on “false claims” against its CEO and leadership.
