Dangote Petroleum Refinery has approved the recall of engineers previously redeployed across its business units, granting what management described as a conditional pardon following internal disciplinary proceedings linked to operational disruptions.
In a memo signed by Group Vice President, Oil & Gas, Devakumar Edwin, the company said the decision followed an extensive review process and appeals from stakeholders, describing the recall as a reflection of its belief in second chances while maintaining that discipline and professionalism remain non-negotiable.
All affected personnel are to be invited for a meeting before being reassigned to resume duties at the refinery. The directive also covers engineers who did not take up earlier redeployment options.
“This decision was not an easy one,” the company said, adding that loyalty and adherence to organisational standards are non-negotiable. “Effective immediately, all engineers previously redeployed to other business units will be invited for a meeting and, subsequently, will be provided with an opportunity to render their services at our Petroleum Refinery.”
The company, however, issued a firm warning that any recurrence of misconduct would attract immediate and decisive sanctions, underscoring a zero-tolerance stance on actions capable of undermining operations.
Dangote Refinery said it expects the returning engineers to demonstrate renewed dedication as it works to strengthen operational efficiency and consolidate its position in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
The Dangote Group had in October 2025 redeployed some refinery engineers to other companies within the conglomerate as part of measures to stabilise operations.
