Davido, Rema lead African stars at Afro Nation Portugal

Nigerian Afrobeats stars Davido and Rema will headline the 2027 edition of Afro Nation Portugal, alongside Congolese singer Fally Ipupa.

The list released on Wednesday by the festival organisers also features Nigerian artistes Omah Lay and Victony among performers on the main Lit Stage.

The annual music fiesta is scheduled to hold from June 9 to 11, 2027, at Praia da Rocha Beach in Portimão, Portugal.

The lineup also includes Jamaican artistes Shenseea and Valiant, Tanzanian singer Rayvanny, British-Nigerian artiste Odeal, and French-Congolese singer GIMS, who is billed as a special guest.

South Africa’s Amapiano scene will also be represented by artistes including Kabza De Small, TxC, Dlala Thukzin, and Young Stunna.

Afro Nation Portugal is one of the leading music festivals dedicated to Afrobeats and contemporary African music.

The festival was launched in 2019 in Portimão, Portugal, as part of the wider Afro Nation brand, which celebrates African music, culture and entertainment across the global diaspora.

Since its establishment, the Portugal edition has attracted thousands of music fans from different parts of the world and featured major artistes from Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, and the United States.

Its programme typically combines Afrobeats, Amapiano, dancehall, hip-hop, R&B, and other African-inspired sounds, while also featuring beach parties, cultural activities, and performances by emerging artistes.

The 2027 lineup continues Nigeria’s strong presence at Afro Nation Portugal, which has featured several leading Nigerian artistes since the festival’s inception.

Previous editions have featured Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Wizkid, Asake, and Tems, with Rema headlining the 2024 edition.

The festival organisers said additional artistes would be announced as preparations for the show continue.
