Popular Nigerian singer David Adeleke, fondly called Davido, has raised the alarm over an alleged plan by soldiers to stop him from entering Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

Davido made the claim in a post on his X account on Friday night, insisting that he would not be denied his constitutional right to move freely across the country.

The award-winning singer, who hails from Osun State and is the nephew of Governor Ademola Adeleke, said he received credible information that security operatives were planning to block his entry into the state.

“I’ve been reliably informed that Soldiers are trying to prevent me from entering Osun tomorrow, this won’t happen, every citizen of Nigeria has the right to movement at any point of time,” he wrote.

The allegation comes amid heightened political activities and heavy security deployment across Osun State as residents prepare to vote in the governorship election.

There was no immediate reaction from the Nigerian military or other security agencies on the singer’s claim as of the time this report was filed.

It would be recalled that the Nigeria Police Force announced a 42-hour restriction of movement from 12:00 midnight on Friday, 14 August 2026, until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, 15 August 2026, as part of comprehensive measures to ensure the peaceful, secure, and orderly conduct of the gubernatorial election.

The Force, in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, CSP Anietie Iniedu, urged the public to comply fully with the restriction and cooperate with security personnel deployed across Osun State, noting that only persons specifically exempted by the restriction order would be permitted to move during the period.

Police, however, was silent on the categories of persons covered by the exemption.
