Diiadem, Dabota clash online over ‘admiration’ for husband

Reality TV star and entrepreneur, Dabota Lawson, has responded to criticism from Nigerians after her former friend, Diiadem, accused her of having an “obvious admiration” for her husband, Olori Atuwatse’s husband.

The controversy began after Diiadem, whose real name is Adeola Diadem, shared a series of posts on social media appearing to address Lawson.

In the posts, Diiadem alleged that Lawson became distant from her while she was receiving public attention during a show.

“When the show was airing and I was receiving love and support, you became distant and stopped speaking to me for weeks,” she wrote.

Diiadem also raised an allegation concerning her former friend’s relationship with “your supposed friend’s sister’s husband”, before questioning Lawson over what she described as her “obvious admiration” for the husband of Olori Atuwatse.

“Or should we talk about your obvious admiration for Olori Atuwatse’s husband? Someone you couldn’t stop gushing about? LOL,” she wrote.

The comments sparked reactions from social media users, with some criticising Lawson over the allegations.

Responding to the backlash in the comment section of an Instagram post, Lawson defended the idea of admiring successful men and questioned why such admiration should be considered inappropriate.

“I didn’t know that admiring great men was suddenly a bad thing. As Christians, don’t women pray for their Boaz? And don’t people openly have harmless celebrity crushes?” she wrote.

The exchange has since generated reactions online, with social media users weighing in on the allegations and the two women’s apparent fallout.

Neither Lawson nor Diiadem provided further details about the allegations concerning the other men mentioned in the exchange.
