There was a mild drama in a Shari’a court sitting in the Magajin Gari area of Kaduna State on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, as a man, Abdulrazaq Abdulra’uf, agreed to grant his wife, Khadija Isah, her prayer for divorce.
Isah who had two children, boys aged 15 and 10, prayed the court to dissolve the marriage through Khul’i.
Khul’i is a type of divorce where the woman returns the dowry paid during marriage to the husband in exchange for her freedom.

Isah said she was willing to return the N10,000 she received as dowry.
However, Abdulra’uf’s counsel, Yazid Abdulsalam, refused to collect the dowry that was supposed to be returned to him.
The presiding judge, Mu’awiyah Shehu, therefore, ruled that the marriage had been dissolved.
