DSS raids Taraba warehouse, recovers relief materials, arrests four

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have raided a private warehouse in Sintali Ward, Jalingo Local Government Area of Taraba State, recovering relief materials reportedly meant for disaster victims and arresting four suspects.

Security sources said the operation followed intelligence from residents, who allegedly observed relief supplies being moved at night from government storage facilities to the private warehouse.

During the raid, the DSS recovered food items and other relief materials valued at millions of naira, believed to have been donated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre to the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) for distribution to victims of disasters.

The four suspects arrested include the warehouse owner and three rice traders. They are currently in DSS custody as investigations continue.

The recovered items were taken to the DSS office in Jalingo for further examination.

According to security sources, investigators are working to determine whether the supplies were unlawfully diverted from official custody or were being kept at the warehouse for legitimate reasons.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Taraba State Emergency Management Agency nor the DSS had issued an official statement on the incident.

Investigations are ongoing.
