EFCC arrests 18 internet fraudsters in Akwa Ibom

The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested no fewer than 18 suspected internet fraudsters in Uyo and Mberebe, Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

According to a statement issued by the EFCC on Monday, the suspects whose ages range between 19 and 31, were arrested on Friday, March 24, 2023, following actionable intelligence linking them to alleged online criminal activities.

Items recovered from the arrested internet fraudsters include laptops, mobile phones, and a Point of Sale (PoS) machine.

The anti-graft agency noted that the suspects will be arraigned as soon as the investigations are concluded.
