The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested three individuals for alleged vote buying during the Anambra governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
According to a statement by the Commission’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the suspects were apprehended in different parts of the state by EFCC operatives monitoring the electoral process.
Those arrested include Emeka Ilokasia, nabbed at Ward 2 in Njikoka Local Government Area; Nwachukwu Loretta, arrested at Ward 2 (008), Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area; and Emuka Chuwudi, apprehended at Umunachi village in Dunukofia Local Government Area.
Oyewale stated that the suspects were caught in the act of engaging in vote buying activities and are currently in EFCC custody.
He added that they would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to ensuring credible elections and warned against any form of financial inducement or voter manipulation during the electoral process.
