The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun interrogating the immediate past Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, over alleged fraud
According to an EFCC source who spoke to TheCable, Kyari is being grilled over funds reportedly allocated for the maintenance of Nigeria’s three state-owned refineries during his tenure.
The source said: “We’re questioning him on allegations of financial misappropriation relating to the refineries’ maintenance while he was in office.

“This is part of an ongoing investigation. He was invited, and he honoured the invitation. He is still with us.”
The interrogation follows last month’s ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja, which temporarily froze four Jaiz Bank accounts linked to Kyari over suspected fraud.
Justice Emeka Nwite granted the order after an ex-parte application filed by the EFCC.
