Some operatives of the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), on Saturday, stormed the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries in Abuja.
The PDP presidential primary election is ongoing at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The purpose of the operatives of the anti-graft agency remain unknown as of the time of filing this report.
The Star had reported that the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, said the anti-graft agency would monitor the source of the funds used in purchasing political party nomination forms ahead of the 2023 general election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, Bawa said EFCC was working with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other agencies to ensure that corrupt persons are not given leadership positions in the country.

The PDP presidential aspirants paid N40 million each for the party’s nomination forms.
“It will take a lifetime for you to save N40 million and N100 million.
“But as you know, when it comes to the issue of monitoring of election funds and candidates’ funds, it is mainly the work of INEC but we are working hand-in-hand with INEC and other related agencies to ensure that we follow the money and know the source, whether it is legitimate or illegitimate. That is our concern.
“Above all, we are concerned about good governance, transparency, and accountability.
“We are also concerned about ensuring that corrupt elements are not given leadership positions in this country and that is why we are working behind the scenes to ensure that at least we make our position known on certain actors within the political space in this country,” Bawa had said.
