El-Rufai’s family dismisses viral ADC letter as fake

The family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed as fake a letter circulating on social media and purportedly signed by the former governor.

In a statement issued on Thursday, El-Rufai’s son, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, described the document, titled “Urgent Message” and dated July 14, 2026, as fabricated and urged members of the public to disregard it.

The statement said the letter, which was purportedly addressed to the National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), did not originate from El-Rufai.

“Mallam Nasir El-Rufai wishes to alert the public that a fake letter is in circulation, purported to have been signed by him, titled Urgent Message,” the statement said.

It added that neither the contents nor the handwriting in the document belonged to the former governor.

“Neither the poor content nor the handwriting has anything to do with Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. The fake letter is another desperate attempt by his detractors to sow confusion and division. Such politics of fakery should be condemned,” the family stated.

The statement further described the document as an act of “primitive politics” and urged those behind it to be ashamed of their actions.

The viral letter had questioned the nomination of Isah Ashiru as the ADC governorship candidate in Kaduna State, alleging that he failed to complete the party’s online membership registration before the April 30, 2026 deadline, which it claimed was a constitutional requirement.

It also called on the party’s national and state leadership to review the nomination process.

However, El-Rufai’s family insisted that the letter was not authored by the former governor and advised the public to ignore it.
