The Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, on Tuesday returned to the classroom as he officially resumed lectures at Northwest University, Kano, where he is enrolled as a Level 200 Law student.
The monarch joined fellow students for early morning classes, dressed simply in a black long gown and white head tie. He was seen seated quietly at the back of the lecture hall on a three-seater desk, participating fully in the session alongside his classmates.
Northwest University, Kano, a state-owned institution, is known for its commitment to expanding access to quality higher education in Northern Nigeria.
Sanusi II’s resumption followed the completion of all registration processes in accordance with the university’s regulations. The institution had offered him admission last week, citing his vast experience in governance, economics and public service.
Despite being a PhD holder and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Emir has remained an influential public figure and a strong advocate for education, learning and youth empowerment.
His presence on campus generated excitement among students, many of whom described his decision to return to formal studies as deeply symbolic. One Level 200 Law student, who asked not to be named, said the Emir’s participation in lectures was “a powerful inspiration, showing that learning has no limits, regardless of status.”
