Liverpool on Sunday suffered another 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Premier League at Anfield.
Eberechi Eze stunned Anfield with the opener for Palace in the 14th minute.
The defeat comes a few days after Liverpool were thrashed 3-0 at Anfield by Atalanta in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.
Eze finished a smart team move early in the game for Oliver Glasner’s visitors and though Jurgen Klopp’s side pushed hard for the equaliser, their wastefulness in front of goal proved costly with Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, and Mohamed Salah among those culpable.
Europa League: Atalanta thrash Liverpool at Anfield
Palace had chances to extend their lead, Jean-Philippe Mateta having one effort cleared off the line by Andy Robertson and another saved superbly by the returning Alisson but they did not need a second. The three points lift them above Brentford into 14th.
Liverpool, having started the day in third with an opportunity to move back to the top of the Premier League table, fell off the pace with Klopp’s final season in danger of finishing in disappointment.
A first home league defeat in 29 games for Liverpool leaves the Reds two points behind Manchester City and level with Arsenal, who can go top with a victory over Aston Villa later on Sunday.
In the other game on Sunday, Fulham defeated West Ham 2-0 at London Stadium.
Liverpool head to Atalanta on Thursday, April 18, for the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final.
Their next Premier League fixture is at Fulham on Sunday, April 21. Liverpool visit rivals Everton three days later.
Crystal Palace, on the other hand, host West Ham in the Premier League on Sunday, April 21.
