The former General Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Frank Ovie Kokori, has been confirmed dead at the age of 80.
It was gathered that Kokori died at a private hospital in Warri, Delta State, in the early hours of Thursday, December 7, 2023, which is coincidentally his birthday.
The former NUPENG Secretary had been in hospital bed over a kidney-related ailment.
Confirming his demise, Kokori’s Personal Assistant, Atawada Oke, disclosed that his health relapsed on Monday when he was unable to interact with people around him while he was placed on life support.

It would be recalled that Kokori, in November 2023, made a distress call over his failing health status.
He lamented that he was abandoned to die despite his key role in the growth of the nation’s democracy.
Dignitaries including Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; former Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege; and NUPENG officials, among others, later visited him.
