Fake agency coordinator releases appointment letter bearing OSGF letterhead

The coordinator of the purported National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office, Prince George Buchi Nwabueze, has released an appointment letter bearing the letterhead of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

The development comes days after President Bola Tinubu ordered Nwabueze’s arrest over the discovery of the alleged fake agency operating within the OSGF.

Tinubu also ordered the suspension of three permanent secretaries allegedly connected to the operation and directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the establishment and activities of the office.

Amid the controversy, Nwabueze posted the purported appointment letter on his LinkedIn page on Saturday.

Dated October 3, 2025, and referenced OSGF/MIN/59310/11/205, the document was signed by Nadungu Gagare, identified as a permanent secretary in the Political and Economic Affairs Office.

The letter stated that Nwabueze had been appointed National Coordinator and Executive Director of the Made in Nigeria Project Office under the OSGF.

It said the appointment was for an initial five-year term beginning in July 2025, with an option for renewal.

According to the document, Nwabueze was responsible for coordinating programmes, projects and policies of the office, as well as supervising regional and state coordinators.

His duties also included organising exhibitions, trade expos and economic summits to promote locally made products and services.

The letter stated that the project office would operate from a temporary office at Room B53, Ground Floor, within the OSGF complex.

It further said the appointment was made at the pleasure of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and was aligned with the objectives of the Renewed Hope agenda.

The release of the document comes as questions mount over how the purported agency operated within the federal government structure.

The ICPC had said the discovery of the alleged fake office emerged during investigations into the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and other breaches of government procedures.

Nwabueze was also reported to have written several letters to state governments requesting the nomination of state coordinators for the Made in Nigeria Project Office.

The authenticity of the appointment letter and the circumstances surrounding the establishment of the purported office remain subject to the ongoing investigation.
