Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has debunked reports claiming that his ambassadorial posting to Germany was rejected.
The Peoples Gazette had reported on Monday that the German government turned down Fani-Kayode’s appointment, citing alleged ethnic and religious slurs.
It would be recalled that President Bola Tinubu approved the former minister’s posting as ambassador-designate to Germany.
The report claimed that German authorities objected due to his “erratic behaviour” and “controversial past statements,” including remarks described as “divisive ethnocentric, tribalistic, and religious fundamentalist comments in Nigeria,” which were deemed “destabilising.”

The news platform also mentioned a possible reassignment to South Africa.
Responding on X, Fani-Kayode dismissed the story as “fake news” and declared his readiness to serve as Nigerian ambassador.
He wrote: “Fake news everywhere 🤣. These opposition elements are so pained by my appointment and they are doing everything to discredit me and scuttle it. Whether they like it or not I will serve my country! Keep crying!”
