Father murdered his newborn baby in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Shafiu Dahiru, for allegedly killing his three-day-old baby at Unguwan Lasa in Soba Local Government Area.

According to sources, Dahiru reportedly strangled and choked the infant, who was born to his 25-year-old wife, Hadiza Shafiu.

Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and his team rushed to the scene and took the baby to a nearby hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed the child dead.

Police authorities said the motive behind the killing is yet to be determined. The suspect has been taken into custody as investigations continue.

At the family’s request, the remains of the baby were released for burial according to Islamic rites, without a post-mortem examination.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
