Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has issued detailed directives on how he should be buried, stating that his body must be interred within four weeks of his death and placed under the care of the Ekiti State Government.
Fayose, who clocked 65 on Friday, November 14, 2025, made the declaration in a six-minute video posted on YouTube by City Edge TV.
In the video, the former governor stressed that death is inevitable and that he had formally communicated his burial wishes to Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
He said: “My body belongs to the Ekiti State Government. I’m delivering a letter to the governor.
“Whether it happens in 20, 30, or 15 years, the state government should take charge of my body, and I must be buried within four weeks. Since the state may not be ready in two or three days, we allow them four weeks.”

The former governor also directed that his children should dress independently and comply with whatever instructions the state government provides at the time of his passing.
Fayose revealed that he had prepared his final resting place at his grandmother’s home, saying: “I’ve made the garden there. I should be laid to rest there. After my departure, nobody must come there again. Allow me to go. If you want to show me love or take care of me, do so now.”
A separate 20-minute video also showed legendary singer King Sunny Ade performing for Fayose as he danced during his birthday thanksgiving celebration on Friday night.
