The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has announced the appointment of CP Dantawaye Miller as its 34th Commissioner of Police. He assumed office on Friday, October 17, 2025, succeeding CP Ajao Adewale, who has been redeployed to a new assignment by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
In a statement, FCT Police Public Relations Officer SP Josephine Adeh said CP Miller pledged to strengthen existing security frameworks, deepen community-police collaboration, and ensure the safety of all residents in the territory. Residents were urged to continue supporting the police in maintaining peace.
A seasoned law enforcement officer, Miller was born on October 15, 1971, in Kajuru, Kaduna State, and is the son of the late DCP Gajere Dantawaye. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in May 2000 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has since held key roles, including Acting Aide-de-Camp to a former Bayelsa State Governor, Escort Commander to a former Vice President, Chief Security Officer at the Ministry of Petroleum, and Commanding Officer of MOPOL 24 at the Presidential Villa.
He has also served as Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations) in FCT, Area Commander in Adamawa, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in Yobe and Edo, and Commissioner of Police in charge of IT at the Force Headquarters. Immediately before his redeployment to Abuja, he served as Commissioner of Police in Kogi State.
The FCT Command is one of Nigeria’s most strategic police formations, tasked with securing the nation’s capital, government institutions, diplomatic missions, and other critical assets. With rising security concerns in recent times, CP Miller’s appointment comes with high expectations for renewed strategies and decisive leadership to enhance safety and restore public confidence across the capital.
