The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has dismissed reports alleging that a court order has halted environmental health enforcement and food safety court sittings in the territory.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the FCTA Public Health Department, through its Legal Officer, Idris Suleiman, described the circulating claim as “entirely false and grossly misinterpreted.”
The department clarified that the court order in question was issued by Yusuf Halilu in Motion No. M/7935/2026.
According to the statement, the suit—filed by H-Medix Pharmacy Limited against the FCTA Health and Human Services Secretariat and six others—only restrained further sittings in matters specifically involving the applicant.
It stressed that the ruling did not in any way suspend the broader enforcement activities of the Public Health Department across the Federal Capital Territory.
“The ruling did not halt the overall environmental health enforcement or food safety court proceedings in the FCT,” the department clarified.
Residents and business owners were therefore urged to disregard reports suggesting a blanket suspension of enforcement operations or court sittings.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining public health and safety standards, noting that its offices remain fully operational and that prosecution of offenders is ongoing.
It added that efforts to ensure compliance with environmental and food safety regulations across the FCT would continue without interruption.
