The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has launched a youth-led campaign to combat air pollution and promote environmental sustainability in Abuja.
The initiative, driven by the Health Services and Environment Secretariat (HSES) in partnership with Rotaract Clubs and other stakeholders, will engage students across schools and campuses through debates, competitions, and environmental clubs.
Speaking at the flag-off, the Mandate Secretary, Dr. Dolapo Fasawe, said the campaign supports the upcoming “Breathe Clean Air Abuja” project, aimed at replacing firewood stoves with gas stoves in over 5,000 households across the FCT.
She noted that the programme empowers young people as “agents of change” to promote clean energy, tree planting, carpooling, and other eco-friendly habits.
Convener Ms. Daniella Olayinka reaffirmed the youths’ commitment to supporting the FCTA in spreading awareness and driving behavioural change.
The campaign, themed “Renewing Hope, One Household at a Time,” underscores the FCTA’s commitment to building a cleaner, healthier Abuja through youth advocacy and community engagement.
