Female teacher beaten to death after disciplining student in Kogi

A female teacher has reportedly been beaten to death in Ugbamaka community, Okpo District, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, in an incident allegedly linked to the punishment of a student.

According to reports, the incident occurred after the teacher disciplined one of her students, prompting a confrontation with the child’s father.

The confrontation reportedly turned violent, with the teacher allegedly sustaining fatal injuries during the assault.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents and renewed concerns over the safety of teachers in schools and the growing cases of attacks on education workers.

Community members have called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.

The incident has also reignited discussions about the need to protect teachers in the course of carrying out their professional responsibilities.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kogi State Police Command had not issued an official statement on the incident.
