In a major boost to the morale and professionalism of Nigeria’s paramilitary services, the Federal Government has approved the promotion of 95 top management officers across the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS), and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), at its 03–25 meeting, announced the elevation of officers from the ranks of Controllers/Comptrollers/Commandants to Assistant Controllers/Comptrollers/Commandants-General and Deputy Controllers/Comptrollers/Commandants-General.
The promotions include four officers from Assistant Controller General (ACG) to Deputy Controller General (DCG) and 31 from Controller of Corrections (CC) to ACG in the Nigeria Correctional Service; six ACG to DCG and 20 CC to ACG in the Nigeria Immigration Service; three ACG to DCG and two CC to ACG in the Federal Fire Service; and three ACG to DCG and 22 CC to ACG in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The Board also considered 224 disciplinary cases across the four services, reaffirming its commitment to accountability and discipline.
Additionally, a committee will be set up to develop a harmonised Scheme of Service for all four agencies.
In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Board assured Nigerians that upcoming recruitment and promotion exercises will be transparent and merit-based, with the 2025 promotion exercise scheduled to run from August to November.
CDCFIB Secretary, Maj. Gen. A.M. Jibril (Rtd), congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication and service excellence.
