Emefiele arriving Ikoyi court, Lagos on Tuesday, July 25, 2023
The Federal Government has filed new 20-count charges at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja against the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
This is coming after the Federal Government approached the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State, to withdraw the charge of illegal possession of firearms filed against Emefiele.
Speaking with journalists after the court’s proceedings in Lagos on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) at the Federal Ministry of Justice, Mohammed Abubakar, said Emefiele, in one of the counts, has been accused of “conferring unlawful advantages”.
