The Federal Government has called on qualified professionals to apply for leadership opportunities within the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator (RC/HC) system.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said applications are now open for the UN Resident Coordinator/Humanitarian Coordinator Talent Pipeline.
According to the ministry, the initiative aims to attract “high-calibre professionals” for senior leadership roles within the UN’s development and humanitarian coordination framework.
“The RC/HC Talent Pipeline is designed to identify and prepare individuals for leadership positions, while broadening and diversifying the pool of eligible candidates,” the statement said, adding that gender balance and equitable geographical representation will be prioritised.
The ministry explained that selected candidates would undergo structured development to strengthen their leadership, coordination and humanitarian response skills.
It, however, clarified that admission into the talent pipeline does not automatically guarantee appointment, noting that shortlisted candidates must still apply separately to the UN Resident Coordinator Assessment Centre.
Applications for the current cycle will close on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (EST).
While UN staff members are required to obtain formal nominations from their governments, non-UN professionals can apply directly without prior nomination.
The ministry urged eligible Nigerians with relevant experience and a strong commitment to multilateral cooperation, humanitarian action and sustainable development to submit their applications before the deadline.
Further details on eligibility and application procedures are available on the official United Nations website.
