The Federal Government has ordered the reopening of all sections of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway currently under construction to ease travel ahead of the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
Minister of Works, David Umahi, directed the contractor, Infiouest Nigeria Limited, to allow full access to the road to reduce congestion and improve safety during the festive period.
According to a statement by the minister’s aide, Francis Nwaze, the move is aimed at ensuring smoother movement for the large number of travellers expected to use the busy corridor.
The government also confirmed that an earlier obstruction caused by an accident along the route has been cleared.
Motorists were assured of enhanced security, with personnel deployed along key sections of the highway to manage traffic and respond to emergencies.
Authorities urged road users to comply with traffic rules and exercise caution, particularly around construction zones.
